Bushenyi High Court Holds RCC Meeting, Commences Criminal Session for 45 Cases

The Bushenyi High Court Circuit on Monday held its Regional Coordination Committee (RCC) meeting chaired by the Resident Judge, Justice Amos Kwizera.
While addressing the meeting, Justice Kwizera informed stakeholders that the RCC is a platform for sharing information. He further informed members of the criminal session, which kicked off today, and a planned Plea Bargaining session.
He said the Session will handle 45 cases with Murder constituting half of the cases, followed by Aggravated Defilement - 10, Aggravated Robbery- 7, Rape - 4, Aggravated Trafficking and Homosexuality each with one case.
He also called upon leaders to always sensitize people against entering into fake money laundering agreements disguised as sale agreements.
The other members gave their reports which among others included poaching in the park, cattle thefts and domestic violence, money lenders and handling of juvenile offenders.
The meeting was attended by all stakeholders who included the LC V Chairperson Basajabalaba Jafari, the Resident District Commissioner Mr Atunzirwe Robert and Deputy RDC Sheema Mr Sam Orikunda, Mr Rwamutojo Douglas Assistant RDC Rubirizi, Mr Baguma Batson Regional Chief State Attorney, SSP Gubira Gerlad RPC, D/SP Mugishal Daniel Regional CID, Ms Faith Amanya Probation Officer, Goreth Ayebale FHRI and magistrates in the circuit.
The acting Deputy Registrar, HW Goretti Arinaitwe moderated the meeting.
